An asset manager in Calgary, working to written mandates.

Vireon Asset Management manages portfolios for private clients and institutions. Every investment decision we make is tied to a client’s written investment policy. A new product or a short-term market move is not, on its own, a reason to change a portfolio.

Vireon is independent. Decisions about how many clients we take on, how portfolios are built and how long positions are held are ours to make, and we judge the results over years.

We take on a limited number of relationships, so that every portfolio can be reviewed against its own policy.

Three working rules

  • Explain it before owning it

If we cannot explain a strategy plainly, we do not yet understand it well enough to hold it in a client’s portfolio.

  • Measure against the policy

Each portfolio is judged against the objectives, limits and time horizon set out in its own investment policy.

  • Trade only with a reason

We prefer a small number of well-founded decisions, held while they remain sound. Every trade has a cost to the client, and we treat it as one.
